An unsuccesful to succesful stop motion puppet process
This stop motion puppet was initially designed to be a timid grey hound with meek mannerisms.Â
Being my first stop motion puppet I was new to armature building and despite great guidance, I struggled to get the exact movement I wanted from my inital concept.
Furthermore, much of my chosen molding and casting methods ended up being unsuccessful. I struggled a great deal just to make this puppet close to my inital design.
The sculpts were great!
Even a little playful :)
However, my end piece only retained the general appearance of my concept.
In reality, most of its movements were poor and many of the casts were messy.
I tried to revenge my puppet by creating even better ones.
This time my armatures were more fluid.
I took on more difficult materials to get the desired effects.
Culminating in strong armatures.
Not saying there were no struggles: as I had to recreate the feet multiple times.
However, I was finally able to get much stronger molds and casts to get the puppets I wanted.
These puppets are still a work in progress, but I am proud of my stop-motion puppet journey.
