Nicole Kozak is a Brampton-based artist with a drive to expand her craft. For her, no task is too small or too big.
With degrees in special effects and anthropology, Nicole wishes to merge the two into more educationally-driven art. She first came to this realization while participating in experimental archaeology—the recreation of human artifacts. Here, she recreated ropes, tools, and cooking supplies into practical art pieces that people could learn from.
But looking back even further, Nicole has always been interested in more research-driven art. She learned the majority of her craft from her love of animals and her desire to replicate them, drawing small creatures she saw. Many of her skills—woodworking, sewing, painting, molding, and casting—also stemmed from this initial desire. She wishes to take this moment to expand to museum-based fabrication.
While she is still learning—recently completing her graduate certificate at Sheridan College for special effects work—she is building her portfolio towards her goals as she shifts from more traditional art forms to practical effects. Though she is still open to more traditional inquiries about her paintings and photos.
Her youth gives her energy and drive to try everything. She is open to collaboration and is seeking out work in the field.
